Confessions of a Book Addict

The Line yesteryear Teri Hall My rating: 4 of five stars While non the best dystopian fiction around, The Line for certain had an interesting floor to offer. As other reviewers convey mentioned, it is plot-driven rather than character-driven. We are made to empathise early that Rachel is a practiced girl, her woman bring upward is e'er sad, together with her mother's employer, on whose acre they live, doesn't similar to hold upward bothered. I had genuinely no data on the hired manus who helped approximately The Property, equally they telephone squall upward it, other than that he was onetime together with looked afterward Rachel when she was young. The plot moved frontwards pretty steadily, although it took likewise long, inwards my opinion, to larn to the practiced part. I'm also left wondering what other secrets Rachel's woman bring upward could hold upward belongings back, together with why, all of a sudden, Ms. Moore became then friendly alongside the woman ...

Reached yesteryear Ally Condie in addition to Insurgent yesteryear Veronica Roth I love  MyPoints .  I dear it thus much because, when I salvage upward plenty points, I instruct gift cards for books.  Books that are gratis to me are wonderful books! It's amazing, then, that I received my latest MyPoints gift bill of fare inward Dec in addition to solely today cashed it in.  I approximate I was waiting for the correct sale, or the correct book, but whatsoever the reason, today I used it upward in addition to got 2 books I've been waiting for for a while.  I'm excited to start them! My married adult man Chris is a fellow member of or thus music message boards, in addition to on i of them they postal service their music purchases.  I idea that would live on a fun experiment for the blog, thus right away I acquaint you lot alongside my offset majority buy of the year. Reached is the finally majority inward the Matched trilogy yesteryear Ally Condie....

Another yr gone, some other lump of books read.  To survive quite honest, I'm non disappointed inwards myself at all for failing to laissez passer on my 75 volume goal.  In looking at my  list of books read this year , I am quite proud of the genres, lengths in addition to authors I've tackled this yr in addition to I am feeling rattling accomplished at a amount of 51 completed books for the year.  Of course, I can't count the ii unpublished manuscripts I read, nor tin I count the volume I am working on proofing (I am getting it chapter past times chapter, hence I haven't finished reading it yet equally it's non yet done).  But if y'all create count those inwards my totals I'm upward to 54, which is admirable inwards itself. Anyway, plenty patting myself on the back.  And don't heed me equally I accept a brusk stroll through some of my most memorable reads of the year. (There are captions underneath the photos - I don't know how to alter the colo...

The Infinite Kingdoms yesteryear Michael Rutherford My rating: 4 of five stars I received this mass direct from the author, to read together with review if I liked it. Which I did. So hither goes. The Infinite Kingdoms is actually 3 semi-short stories, non related yesteryear whatever characters but exactly yesteryear the fact that they all convey house inwards the same world. Perhaps they convey house simultaneously, possibly inwards dissimilar ages. It's impossible to tell, together with truly, it doesn't much matter. The outset tale, The Tale together with its Master , sets upward the Kingdoms nicely, every bit it explains well-nigh the Guild that makes upward much of the Kingdoms' culture. The Guild's total refer is The Guild of Seers, Speakers, Dreamers, Storytellers, together with Non-Fanatical Prophets. Influenza A virus subtype H5N1 baby, Remus, is born to a Storyteller, together with grows upward to uncovering that he has to a greater extent than talent...

NW past times Zadie Smith My rating: 3 of v stars I don't actually know what to say. It was together with thus difficult to teach through this book, together with thus difficult to actually teach at the pith of what Smith was trying to say. Is it because I read it on my own? But I read On Beauty on my own, together with loved it. This ane didn't quite speak to me the means On Beauty together with White Teeth did. That's non to country it's non a bully book. I actually mean value there's something exceptional most it, most its format together with content together with the storytelling styles of each of the iii major parts. Maybe I simply didn't teach it. Someone else said it was a mass most language, together with I tin post away run across that, since linguistic communication itself defined the characters. Smith got dialects downwards together with thus good I could demand heed them inwards my caput alongside absolutely no trouble. Miscommunication ...

Well friends, it looks similar I volition non brand my goal of reading 75 books this year. It's taken me almost vi weeks to read NW yesteryear Zadie Smith, fifty-fifty though it's non that long. And I haven't been reading a lot of e-books lately either. I experience like, despite my seriously awesome dedication to this challenge, 75 books was also high a goal.  This inwards itself makes me sad. Why is it that together with hence many people I know tin read 100 or to a greater extent than books inwards a year? For a spell there, I felt similar I was reading constantly . Am I choosing books that are also long? Am I reading also slowly? Am I simply non reading the correct stuff? I'm the somebody who has a MA inwards English, but I read to a greater extent than piece of cake than those who don't! I must simply receive got unlike habits, or read at a unlike pace, or mayhap I'm simply unlike inwards general. Who knows why I can't read that many books...

Enchanted past times Alethea Kontis My rating: 5 of five stars I absolutely LOVED this book. Love dear love. I could seriously non pose it downwards ane time I started it. The storytelling was fab, I adored the means Kontis weaved inwards other well-known fairy tales in addition to created her ain out of them, in addition to Dominicus was in addition to thus lovable that I only wanted to mash her. Also, tin I only say, STAND-ALONE!!! It was a stand-alone! No sequel to read, no serial to complain about, it ended! Guh, dear it! Alethea Kontis needs to cash inwards one's chips on writing in addition to writing in addition to writing because I could only read this form of matter forever. I had 2 child problems amongst the majority - the timing seemed off, in addition to the characters got confusing. It felt similar the majority was taking house over several weeks, but inwards actuality, according to the days mentioned periodically, it was only close ane week. Too much was cr...
